Palatine, IL – June 8, 2015 – Dr. Nancy Gimbel, Vice President of Student Support Programs at Synergis Education, has been selected as the keynote presenter for next month’s Central Michigan University Enrollment and Student Services Division Annual Conference. The theme of the conference, which takes place July 8, 2015, is “Re-conceptualizing the Student Experience.” Discussions and presentations at the conference will focus on strategies for student engagement and retention.
These themes have been consistent areas of interest – and achievement – in Dr. Gimbel’s career. Prior to joining Synergis Education, Dr. Gimbel spent fifteen years in administration at Georgia Tech and Emory University, taking action to improve student recruitment, retention, academic advising, career development, and alumni involvement for undergraduate and graduate students. At Synergis, she has applied her knowledge and expertise to developing student support and retention strategies for Synergis partner institutions as they launch online and blended academic programs.
Her keynote presentation, “Letting Go of Business As Usual: The Evolution of Higher Education” will address the challenges universities face as they try to adopt new innovations sweeping through higher education without compromising their missions, values, or student support systems. She will emphasize the importance of a disciplined approach to launching new initiatives, and facilitate a discussion about the risks and opportunities presented by the changes taking place in higher education.
